I borrowed a friend's once without any issues.

I have borrowed my mom's when I go on vacation, but I think she had my license tag number added to the account before I left. So I think you can, if the vehicle is linked to the account.

I have MD E-Z Pass. You can register more than one car to the transponder, yes. You're not supposed to use it with an unregistered vehicle, but don't expect a police dragnet over it. They really just want the tolls paid, nothing more.

It works. But if the transponder doesn't register at the toll it can be a real pain getting them to dismiss the costly fine since the tag isn't associated with the transponder.

Pro-tip-- there is usually a (several hour/day?) delay from the time the transponder is used to the time the use hits your account-- as long as you login and update your account before the charge hits you can move it between vehicles--I've done this for rentals and loaner cars where I won't know the car and plate info before hand.

In VA you can move it from car to car with no issues. I've pulled mine and used it in various rental cars or with cheap friends who'd rather sit in traffic for 90 mins than pay 5 GD dollars.

We move it from car to car. I've never heard you weren't supposed to do so. Ours is from NJ if that matters. I've had it for 13 years and had 3 different cars in 3 different states in that time and I've never once updated a tag number with them. I just keep paying the bill.

I know I have listed two cars on our account because I had to go out and get the plate numbers.

As long as the vehicle class is the same it doesn't matter.

We do it all the time.

If you don't have the other car on your account and the transponder does not work you will. Be fined for using E-ZPass lanes without one. If it does not work on a registered car they look up your license and no problem. Of course iyour transportation fee most likely won't fail..

According to EZ-Pass you have to register each car on your account- you can switch the transponders from car to car. When we added a new car we added its temp license first and then waited until we got the new license to enter before getting a new transponder. It all worked out.

I have used my mom's in my car without registering my plate. Nothing happened (this was on the 95 HOT lanes).
